A friend became another one's boss?!

Question: A friend became another one's boss.?
I have 2 very good friends, recently one became the other one's boss, and their relationship felt apart very quickly (as one now has total authority over the other; writes his performance appraisal; determine his raise/bonus etc).... Is it true that when your friend became your boss and that's the end of the friendship.?.?.? thanks...

It's difficult, because friends generally have mutual respect and acceptance of equality between them. If one has an official authority over the other, this can be conflictual to the needs of the relationship. If they can't depend on each other equally, if they can't be themselves with each other, than that's a problem and the friendship will diminish. I think it is still possible to be a friend and a boss at the same time, but both parties really have to understand the nature of their personal and professional relationship and find a balance. Given your friends circumstances, I would say it would be tough to remain friends, but hopefully not become enemies either.Health Question & Answer

Regretfully, it seems to be the case. You can be good friends when you both are equal. You can't be good friends when the other rule you. The boss has to preform his duty, if he help you, others will talk, if he doesn't help you, you don't like.Health Question & Answer

It could be an issue of jealousy since one friend got the job of being the boss over the other friend. This can sometimes be the end of a friendship. Jealousy can sometimes ruin friendships all over the place.Health Question & Answer

It can expecially if one stops listening to the other. I have seen it at a management level and at a entry level. It usually ends the friendship.Health Question & Answer

Not necessarily. It all depends on how strong the friendship was in the first place. It seems that your friends were not all that close if one can't handle having the other as a boss. Health Question & Answer
