What are the pros & cons of male circumcision? Is it really necessary?!

Question: What are the pros & cons of male circumcision.? Is it really necessary.?
In Europe, South America & most of the world circumcision is not the custom unless you are Jewish or Muslim.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Pros to circumcision;

Doctors and hospitals make lots of money from it, they charge the parents for it and then turn around and sell the amputated infants' foreskins for use in COSMETICS and some research.

Doctors very frequently belong to the religions that try to perpetrate circumcision on all males, and are highly biased.

Cons;

It damages the penis, makes it smaller, destroys sexual sensitivity.

100% penis = 100% sexual sensitivity. Some Americans have a hard time understanding that a partial penis has only partial sensitivity, and results in a partial sexual experience.

Circumcision is the worst hoax ever perpetrated on the male sex.

Having a foreskin is the natural state of man.

A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.Health Question & Answer

Well the answer to the second question "Is it really necessary" is obviously no. Otherwise most people would do it and healthcare would cover it. Circumcision is mainly done for religious reasons (Jews & Muslims) and otherwise it's only done out of medical necessity (rare foreskin related problems) or for cosmetic reasons. It's only popular in the United States mostly for cultural reasons (its considered more aesthetic due to the commonality of the practice there and there are some stigmas, mostly due to ignorance about not being circumcised).

Pros to circumcision:
1. Reduces the chances of urinary tract infection in first few years of life.
2. Lowers risk of acquiring HIV through unprotected sex.
3. Circumcised penis is easier to keep clean because smegma never builds up underneath the foreskin.
4. Depending on location, being circumcised may allow individual to fit in more with the majority.

Cons to circumcision:
1. Reduces sensitivity of penis and potentially reduces sexual pleasure in male.
2. Lack of foreskin makes masturbation more difficult (as lube is usually required in circumcised males).
3. When done in infancy it takes the "choice" away from the male which can be considered unethical.
4. Circumcision is a painful operation that takes several weeks to recover from.
5. It's a permanent procedure that cannot be undone if the patient isn't happy with the results.
6. Leaves a scar that person might consider to be less aesthetic in appearance.
7. Depending on location, being intact may allow individual to fit in more with the majority. Health Question & Answer

There are no pros compelling enough to recommend circumcision.
It is an unnecessary procedure that permanently removes a natural, important part of the penis.

Only 20% of males worldwide are circumcised, and most of them are for religious reasons and customs. The USA is the only developed country that circumcises a majority (57%) of its boys for non-religious reasons.Health Question & Answer

Honestly, I can't really think of "pros" of male circumcision because
1) it dries your head.

2) it desensitizes your entire penis, starting from the head.

3) circumcised men tend to last shorter in bed.? yeah.

4) when a man has a foreskin, it's been said that overall they have a larger penis because throughout his life time, the foreskin will sort've "hang" the penis, etc.

5) you don't really need lube when you're intact, natural, the way God intended you to be (uncircumcised).

You know, the decision is yours and it should never be chosen by other people (e.g. your parents, etc.)

If you have to get circumcised because of your religion (either Judaism or Islam, etc.) I can understand but even then, if God didn't want you to have a foreskin, S/He probably wouldn't've given you one. (These days I see even Jews and Muslims that are against and questioning circumcision, both male AND female.)Health Question & Answer

There is seldom any need to mutilate little boys, only in very very rare cases is it needed.I cannot believe that there are still so many shallow people who think it should be done because it looks better, nature intended for it to be there,if it wasn't needed,we would have evolved a long time ago to being without a foreskin.

Edit........captain_bryce,you are very wrong about it helping to prevent the transmitting of HIV,if it were true, then why were the first cases of HIV recorded in america where circumcision is the norm.?In Africa, where circumcision was recommended to halt the spread of AIDS the spread of HIV did indeed go down in the first month or so after the operation, due to the wound still being open but, then it increased dramatically after they became sexually active again and being told that it would prevent AIDS,had unprotected sex with disastrous results,as we now know.Health Question & Answer

Very debatable depending on who you ask. Some say there are extra nerve fibers in that skin at the top and it makes sex more enjoyable to the man.

Some say that removing the skin makes for a penis that creates more friction during intercourse, and is more enjoyable for both parties.

Circumcision was only done for cleanliness reasons back in the day. With that extra skin over the tip, it would sometimes get infected inside. With todays hygene there is not as much concern about that. Like many things in medicine, there is no good scientific reason anymore to do it, but healthcare resists any change that will not bring it more money.Health Question & Answer

There's no real need for circumcision unless the guy is suffering from some form of tight foreskin, where it is not possible to clean and could lead to infection.

Daily washing is enough to keep it perfectly clean. Upon that, the glans is in it's natural, un-chafed state which renders all stimulation more pleasurable. Health Question & Answer

I don't remember mine. I had mine when I was born. I hear it is more sensative for uncircumsized guys so that causes pre ejaculation if your looking to go a long time. But I love mine circumsized. when I am inside her without a condom It is like a super-ribbed condom she loves it. mine was non religious. its just clean and not so sweatyHealth Question & Answer

I am Catholic, so that has nothing to do with it,. I am not so don't know what it feels like. Although is nice to be longer and my parents let me make the choice. also not nice to have a baby in so much pain. I know many the ones that are more attractive and easier to keep clean. But am not so, am no expert or have any facts.Health Question & Answer

I was cut at 18 and can assure you it is the only way to be! It is cleaner, healthier, looks better and feels much better. Don't believe all the antis and their loss of sensitivity nonsense, its all BS! Being circumcised enhances the sexual experience. I had no hesitation to circumcise my boys (2&4) when they were born, nor will I when the next one is born in 3 months. I know there is no downside, only a lifetime of benefits!Health Question & Answer

the guy who said you get pre-ejaculation if you aren't is talkin bull... there are a lot bigger factors that cause premature ejac.

the only pro is that circumised is easier to keep clean... that doesnt necessarily mean it IS cleaner, its just easier to KEEP clean... most guys (including me) take showers everyday so i bet i'm just as clean as a cut guy is down thereHealth Question & Answer

Idk. im glad i had mine thoughHealth Question & Answer

ABSOLUTELY necessary.. It improves the cosmetics [appearance] of your Penis 1,000%.. Furthermore, there's a good reason it is a Jewish tradition.. It is easier to keep clean too. Don't believe all these people who tell you it's not popular have a circumcised Penis anymore.. And your penis is no longer in length if it is not circumcised. Having an ugly foreskin makes ones Penis more sensitive & you will constantly suffer premature ejaculation during coitus. Women overall enjoy sexual intercourse much more with a man who has a circumcised Penis ; they report achieving orgasm easier during intercourse..Health Question & Answer

It is necessary unless you want to look like a monster.Health Question & Answer
