Your parents are right.. The best vitamins and minerals are acquired through a balanced diet.. If you have a balanced diet you don't need much in terms of supplements..

That's why food supplements are called just that - they are supplements only and are not meant to replace whole foods..
Health Question & Answer

food in it's whole, un-manipulated and various forms - is the greatest supplement of all.. Personally, I'm not sure if this is correct.. Vitamins are like an insurance policy - you pay your premiums never knowing if you'll get your moneys worth.. Is it possible to eat a nutritionally correct diet (for YOUR body and lifestyle) without any form of supplementation.?
Health Question & Answer

It used to be enough to eat fruit and vegetables, but the quality of the fruit and vegetables is so bad nowadays that supplements are necessary.. You don't have half the vitamins you used to have in them..
