Navel Piercings - Risk Of Infection?!

Question: Navel Piercings - Risk Of Infection.?
I really want to get my belly button pierced in a month or two, but I'm worried about the risk of infection. I know that most piercings end up fine, but I have my ears pierced and when I wear earrings it always gives me an infection no matter what. I don't know if this applies to the belly button piercing as well, but what can I do to reduce the risk of infection or rejection by my belly.? also, how long does it take to heal, because I dance and trampoline and I can't miss anything from those for too long xD ThanksHealth Question & Answer

Well i got my piercing done and it took about maybe 4- 6 weeks for it to be completely healed up, and mine didnt get infected i just cleaned it every day and extra when i was outside doing stuff or something, if you just keep cleaning it lik even the piercing the most you can then you should be good, i got mine done in the summer and ppl say thats the risky time to get it done before how summer is hot and lik sweating and what not, but mine never got infected. be care ful wen you do things tho it hurts alot wen you tug on it hardHealth Question & Answer

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I had mine done nearly 2 years ago, and mine never got infected. Even if the worst did happen, you'd get an infection, but it's not the end of the world. I guess all you can do is try if you really want it. Just make sure you wear stainless steel bars as you don't want any cheap stuff - that'll probs make it infected.Health Question & Answer

It sounds like you might be allergic to something, actually, if you keep getting that. (My friend was allergic to silver)

Anyway, if you still worry about infection just keeping clean is good but common antisceptics found are Whiskey and Salt water- they hurt but they keep it clean.Health Question & Answer

I had mine done in 1994. After a few months I thought it was healed...but then it got infected because my jeans and belts were rubbing against it. I went to the doctor and he told me to keep it covered with a band aide 24/7, but cleanse it 2 times daily with hydrogen peroxide and apply neosporin. I did this for 3 weeks and it healed and gave me no more troubles.Health Question & Answer
