There is no easy way to tell someone that you have cancer. I have lost my dad, mum and daughter to cancer and dealt with each in different ways. Many people feel isolated because once people know they are afraid to approach you as they dont know what to say to you.
You HAVE to let your friends know sooner rather than later but try to be as honest with them as you can be and let them know that you would value their support, help and understanding. Let them know that you are up for a fight and want them around you at this difficult time and that with their help and support you are going to approach this head on. Let them see that you are not going to break everytime you talk about it and that they are not going to hurt your feelings by asking questions about things they might not understand. Knowledge is power and the more they know about your condition the better they will be at supporting you.
Please make it clear to them that they have not to be afraid of asking you questions as they will feel better knowing more and you will feel better as you are sharing your condition with people who love and care about you.

My mother had cancer and it just one of those things that you need to tell people. There really is no way that you can hide it because once you start going thorough chemotherapy you will lose youre hair. Its better to be up front. The harsh reality is that your time may be severely limited now. But that doesnt mean you cant live your life to its fullest. My mother made it one year with cancer. She worked as a nurse until about 2 months before she died. We spent the summer at the beach and went on vacation. In essence she lived a normal life with cancer. To hide that you have cancer to your friends is really a diservice to them. I am most grateful for the kindness and genoeristy that my mother's friends showed her last year. I'm sorry, cancer is always tough. A lot of my family members have had it, and I'm sure a lot of people on here as well.
