Question: Salmonella and Pregnancy.?
Does Salmonella cause an unborn baby to die or get sick.? I have heard that it only affects the mother and I have heard it can lead to stillbirth. So which is it.? Please, only people who know. I am 36 weeks pregnant.

There is one type of Salmonella bacteria, called Salmonella typhi that may be passed to the fetus. This type is rare in the United States, but if transmitted to the fetus, can cause abortion, stillbirth or premature labor. The other types will just make the mother sick.
