Poison oak treatment?!

Question: Poison oak treatment.?
I have had poison oak for a couple of days now. It is terrible. It's pretty itchy and my back has hardened, or what the doctor called "crusty", making it very uncomfortable to move. It has also spread to my legs.

It sounds like I have a pretty severe case of it. How long does the reaction last when it is this severe.? What about the "crusty" part.? Is there any treatment I can use to lessen the itching/crustiness.? I was prescribed steroid tablets, but I just started taking them and they haven't done anything yet. The doctor said this could last up to 2 weeks, and I don't think I can live that long with the uncomfort I'm in now! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciatedHealth Question & Answer

Try soaking in a cool bath, or using cool compresses to relieve some of the itching. You could also use calamine lotion, but check with your doctor first - just because something is over the counter doesn't mean it's safe for everybody all the time.Health Question & Answer
