Answers:
Kidney stones persist longer than a period, and can take more than a month to pass. Periods consist of sharp pains in the abdomin not similar to a kidney stone. Kidney stones cause sharp pains usually in the lower back and cause pain during urination as periods do not. The levels and location of the pain, is usually very different meaning few similarities among the two.Health Question & Answer

From my experience a kidney stone is nothing like having a period. My pain was completely in my back, near the bottom of my rib cage. It started as discomfort but in a couple days was complete and total pain. I could feel exactly where the stone was and when I moved the stone would usually move and it hurt like hell. The stones are often jagged and it basically cuts you. That's where the blood in the urine comes in. I had blood in my urine but it wasn't enough that I could see any. I only know I had some because the doctor ran a test on it. I just drank a ton of water and it passed in a couple of days. My co-worker said that I had no color to me, that she could tell I was in pain. I went to work because I had just started a new job and only had a little of a day worth of sick time and there was no telling how long it would take to pass. That was the worst day ever. I did not fell nauseous but I wasn't very hungry. And from what I've read on my doctors pamphlets men are just as likely as women. It's not more one than the other.Health Question & Answer
