Question: Gall BladderSeious Replies For Those That Has Had This Procedure also.?
I just had my gall bladder removed today, I'm feeling fine to the pain killer the prescribe for me. My next check up is this following Tuesday. Is there a strict diet that I need to follow since this has been removed, and are there things that I really need to stay away from now on. How long does it take to heal for this operation & will I gain any weight.Would there be any other health issuses that I may need to look out for since this was taken out. Serious replies only....I Thank You For Your Input.Health Question & Answer

My gallbladder was removed last April. My Mom, Dad, sister and brother all had already had theirs removed. It takes about 2-3 weeks to heal if you are a fast healer. It took mine 6 weeks but normal is a couple of weeks. Their is not a strict diet but everyone I know (except me) got diarrhea for about 6-8 weeks after having their gallbladder removed. I didn't because I have a digestive disorder and can't eat food and my bowels shut down 8 years ago. I have to take medication everyday to make them work, but you will probably get diarrhea like I said. You will gain weight when you can eat better. I would eat light for a while until you have a chance to heal and no chance of diarrhea. You will be fine.Health Question & Answer

eat what you can tolerate & get up and walk daily. i had the procedure done while in the 4th month of pregnancy & took tylenol for pain only! remember that even though the gall bladder was removed, the cause of the stones may still remain. monitor your own diet & follow up with your surgeon & GI doctor as needed.Health Question & Answer
