It's not the Electronic devices, it's what they're eating. Most pre packaged food has an uncountable amount of man made chemicals, that's what is giving every one cancer.Health Question & Answer

Cancer isn't a modern disease, it's an ancient disease that has been around as long as humankind and longer.

There are a number of reasons why cancer appears to be more common these days. The first and greatest is, ironically, better health care. People are living longer, and cancer is mainly a disease of agring - the overwhelming majority of people diagnosed with cancer are over 60. More people living into old age means more elderly people getting cancer.

Then there's improved screening - cancers that may not have been detected in the past are now found because of routine screening and people's own greater awareness.

Another reason it seems more common now is that people are more open about it. I remember a time when most people would mouth the word 'cancer' rather than saying it aloud. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer as a young man in the 1950s his mother was mortified as she associated cancer with dirt. You can bet she didn't tell her friends and neighbours that her son had cancer, the way a mother would now.

And celebrities and public figures who develop cancer are quite open about it now; they wouldn't have been 30 years ago.

We have the internet now, and countless radio and TV channels; when I was growing up there was no internet, and in the Uk only 2 TV channels and 3 radio stations. Access to information about cancer is so much more readily available now, so it seems that cancer is more prevelant

Cancer rates actually haven't increased significantly in recent years, and survival rates for many cancers have improved.

There's no scientific evidence that any thing 'in the air' causes cancer, or that any food or drink causes cancer either. The causes of cancer are still not known.Health Question & Answer

I think that back in the day we didnt have the ability to accuratly diagnosis cancer. The overall incident rates are the same as they have always been. The differences are two fold... First and foremost we can diagnose it far sooner than we could back in the day. Second, there are more people here today than back in the day. It doesnt take common sense to figure out that 20% of 100 is 2, but 20% of 200 is 4. Even though one is 2 and the other is 4, its STILL only 20% of the whole.Health Question & Answer

I don't think more people are getting cancer, I think doctors are better able to identify it now.Health Question & Answer
