RED LUMP.. Cysts or something else?!

Question: RED LUMP.. Cysts or something else.?
At the beginning of the month I had experienced a painless red lump with no kind of head what so ever on the outer labia of my vagina I was very worried, it lasted about a week and then went down on it's own as if it was never there.. Now it's back in the SAME PLACE big as it was in the beginning still with no head this time there is some pressure. I wanted to know if Cysts can go down and them come back in the same place.? Or if it could be something entirely different.?.?.? Please help, very worried.Health Question & Answer

Take a damp washcloth and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds, immediately apply hot washcloth to the infected area. Do this a couple times a day and it will bring a head to the surface if its an ingrown hair, or if it is a boil the swelling will go down and everything will be fine. This is very common in people that shave. also more common in less active or overweight individuals. Its nothing to worry about, the heat will clear it right up. good luck!Health Question & Answer

If you're worried about an STD, I would say it's probably not one. Lesions from STD's (like herpes or syphilis) are fluid filled with a clear fluid, and will turn into an open sore. Genital warts are lumps that are flat and on the surface, and they are not painful. Chances are it's a cyst or an ingrown hair. If you shave, you are much more likely to get an ingrown hair. They can be extremely painful, and can get infected. Cysts are notorious for going away and coming back in the same area. If it bothers you a lot (if the pain gets too bad), you can have it removed. I would have it looked at regardless, just for peace of mind... but it's probably nothing serious.Health Question & Answer
