Medical Question: Brain Tumor?!

Question: Medical Question: Brain Tumor.?
I'm 16 years old, and i'm going through a lot of..crap for lack of a better term. I don't do my homework. I want to succeed so badly, I always tell myself when I wake up in the morning that i'm going to come home and finish all of my homework, study, etc. I'm literally failing every single class at my school except history.
Another problem i'm having is at home. I'm a musician and i'm constantly bombarded by my sister's, mom, dad. They all graduated with honors. I just don't find anything in school interesting, but I tell myself that that's not an excuse to not do the work.

Now for the medical part. Any time my parents ask me something, right away I answer them as if i'm annoyed. I know they love me, and they want the best for me. I know. But I automatically go into anger mode. I hate when it happens, because 1. I don't like to open up emotionally to my family, and 2. When I get angry, i'm at a loss of words and I feel pressure in my head. Maybe it's just normal teenage symptoms of growing up, but I was reading up on brain tumors, and I found that I matched these symptoms:

-Behavioral and cognitive problems: Many reported behavioral and cognitive changes, such as: problems with recent memory, inability to concentrate or finding the right words, acting out - no patience or tolerance, and loss of inhibitions - saying or doing things that are not appropriate for the situation.

-Changes in personality or memory.

-I have random muscle twitches (charlie horses) very often.

-Strange feelings in my head. ie: Say i'm in a heated argument with my dad, and it gets emotional. If this occurs, I can't even think straight, my head starts to hurt.

-I'm tired, drowsy all the time. I literally half-sleep as i walk to my bus stop, and i'm constantly bobbing my head up and down up to the afternoon, even if I get 7-8 hours of sleep.

Maybe i'm being a hypochondriac, but it's strange. No matter how much I tell myself i'm going to do my homework, study, not be an *** to my parents and sisters, I always contradict myself.

So my main question is: What do I say to my doctor if i'm feeling these symptoms.? I don't want to look like I need psychiatric health, i'm told that enough by my obnoxious sisters. I just want to find out for sure if it's anything medically serious.Health Question & Answer

I seriously doubt you have a brain tumor. Actually if you go to a doctor you could show him the text of your question. It describes your situation pretty well. You write well so are most likely an intelligent person. I read your question thoroughly. Your symptoms, emotional, cognitive and physical really do sound like something a lot of teens are going through. One possibility is you have ADD(attention deficit disorder) which is treatable. One suggestion I could make: Try to organize your life a bit better. Something a lot of us older folks could do also. What I mean is regular meal times. Plan for and set aside a block of time for homework. also some free time just for doing whatever. Plan on a specific time for bed on weekdays and maybe an hour or so later on Friday and Saturday. Doing this would help you feel more in control of your life. I know these things are easy to talk about but hard to put into practice. I went through a lot of the things you are experiencing. I even thought my parents were real dumb and did not understand me at all. I felt annoyed and that they were just prying into my life. Really understand that they love you and only want the best for you. If you feel a doctor or therapist could help, then by all means don't hesitate to ask, if only to set your mind at ease. I could say a lot more but you get the picture. When I get started answering these questions I sometimes get carried away and end up writing a short story. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Seek out the help of a doctor.
At any rate, if you have a brain tumor he'll help you out, and if you need to see a psychiatrist he'll point you in the right direction as well.
It's a win, win situation.Health Question & Answer

I can tell you that you most likely do not have a brain tumor. Stress causes the symptoms you are saying you have.Brain tumors cause severe headaches, loss of coordination, speech difficulties, and so on. My late-husband had many brain tumors affecting all different areas of his brain. I think you are just stressed out. Tell the doctor what your symptoms are. Depression can also cause your symptoms.Go see the doctor.Health Question & Answer

It is doubtful that you have a brain tumor, sounds more like hormones and the teenage crazies. Of course, you may need counseling and/or medication to deal with your emotions and outbursts, there is nothing wrong with admitting that you need help, either physical or mental.

At the moment, you are acting like a brat, so face it. The problem with not "manning up" and starting to work on your issues is that they can continue into adult life, and people will always view you as irritable, irrational or sullen. Not a pretty picture. Remember that in the end, we all control ourselves and can work to change what we do not like. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

i did not read all of this, but to the point of school work, you put all this effort in to asking if you had a brain tumor, and you have obviously thought about it allot. this means that you are able to work and study. so what you need to do to become a good student, is figure out study habits. my guess is that you sit down to study and get distracted by tv, or computer, or music, or whatever. this means that you have to GO SOMEWHERE WARE THERE ARE NO DISTRACTIONS FOR YOU. sorry about the uppercase, but it was necessary. allot of people study in coffee shops, because they get distracted at home, so if i where you, i would study at starbucksHealth Question & Answer

i highly doubt you have a brain tumor...what you've described is *typical* for your age - your body is undergoing many changes, and hormones play a huge role in your emotions, sleep needs, etc. however, if i were you, i'd simply go to the doctor and be upfront - explain what your symptoms are - without telling him/her that you think you may have a brain tumor....doctors are quite able to determine what tests are necessary (if any)....if they say it's just "nomal", or mild depression, it probably is.Health Question & Answer
