My daughter has a form of Tay Sachs Disease, what are some activities I could do with her?!
Question: My daughter has a form of Tay Sachs Disease, what are some activities I could do with her.?
My daughter has Tay Sachs disease, she has progressively been getting worse. She experiences a lot of involuntary movements and is unable to walk properly and can't control her bodily functions at all, she's lost a lot of weight and the mental awareness. I can tell that she's unhappy but I'm not sure what I can do to cheer her up. I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions on some kinds of activities and things I could do that might help her (mentally and physically).? I know I'm not going to make her better but I have to help her the best I can.Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Just love her and pray for her not to suffer.
I will pray for you and your daughter.
I think letting her know you are there with touch is most important. Does she have favorite toys or textures or smells etc... Surround her with things you know make her happy.
If she can hear at all... sing to her - even if you can't sing - she loves hearing your voice. Even feeling your breath and vibrations might be soothing.
also - I would join a support group, or if there isn't one in your area, perhaps an online community.Health Question & Answer
