To be on the safe side get some hair conditoner and add some drops of lavender oil to it and plaster your hair with it and leave on for a period of time say up to an hour
Get a nit comb and comb it thru your hair - if you get little nits eggs come out of your hair you will know that it was nits
If not then the conditoning treatment will do no harm and the lavender will help with the dandruff
After you have combed it wash your hair thoroughly - repeat treatment if you find any nits
Don't forget to wash your towels, bedlinen and any other things such as combs, hats etc that come into contact with your hair
Wash them thoroughly in as hot a water as you can and dry in sunlight to kill the eggs
Much nicer a treatment than the kerosine suggested - it was effective but not good for your health especially if you are chemically intolerant and not good if it gets in eyes accidentally

Lice move around a lot, but the nits (the eggs) do attach to the hair shaft. you very well may have lice. You need to use a lice shampoo. You need to wash your bedding, and basically delouse everywhere you have been with your head. Chances are your sister has them, too. You need to get some help handling this.Health Question & Answer
That depends - where in your hair are they.? Are they on top of your head.? Or down on the nape of your neck (where your hair starts at the top of your neck). If it's on top of your head, it's likely not lice. If it's down near the nape, it could be. Lice is incredibly itchy, and if not taken care of right away can become a huge problem.
