How dangerous are inhaled steroids in asthma medications?!
Question: How dangerous are inhaled steroids in asthma medications.?
I was diagnosed with adult-onset asthma a while ago and given steroid-based medication to use as a preventer. Unfortunately, I have had reactions to all types (Symbicort, Pulmicort, Flixotide and many others). I come out in bruises all over and, most disturbingly, I get acne, which I've never had before.
I've recently starting taking Singulair, which I love, but it doesn't fully control my asthma. My doctor recommended I start taking Symbicort again. Is there an alternative.? And just how dangerous are these cortesoid steroids once in your system.? I've heard they also lead to bone thinning.Health Question & Answer

Well ... let me address the "death related to Long Acting Bronchodilators" .... this is predominately isolated to the African-American population ... and truly have some reservations about the research and the cause of death .. these patients were severe asthmatics ... and there has been some doubt casted on the validity of the research ...
Obviously, the inhaled steroids have some side effects ... not as significant as the steroids taken by mouth or IV ....
It is a tough choice between side effects and breathing ....
I might suggest these steroids:
Aerobid? (flunisolide)
Azmacort? (triamcinolone)
Qvar? (beclomethasone HFA)

I use to take symbicort 200, twice in the morning and twice at night, as i like you had adult on-set asthma after a bout of bronchitis. 2 years later i do not use anything anymore! it has cleared up. The steriod level in these inhalants are minimal, if you do not use them, you actually do more harm to your lungs!
Dont forget to always rinse your mouth out after inhaling meds as your more susceptable to getting mouth ulcers and damaging the

In response to the drug pusher below my post I really need to say this. If people read and distribute that article and learn how to get rid of the asthma like I did, asthma wouldn't be killing 11 people EVERY DAY. Asthma wouldn't be costing our health care system $18 BILLION every year. And asthma wouldn't be reducing the quality of life for 20 million Americans and their families.

its good for you if you have asthhma..docter approved on this questshion..ive heard of bruises before..i have asthm all my life..i was on pulmicort and the advair..i just dont need them..never heard of anything that you have..i do know it thins the skin after yrs of use..i use to get shots...GOOD LUCK TO YOU..Health Question & Answer
There is quite a big difference in costicosteroids and anabolic steroids. The best advise I can give you is to share your concerns with your doctor. Health Question & Answer

Neminly is right. If you read that article she posted you'll be able to control your asthma a lot better than with any drugs. I followed her advice and now my daughter is free of any asthma symptoms. I also noticed that I don't have migraines anymore.
She's awesome and has done the research that the 'drug pushers' don't want you to know about.
I distributed her article to all my friends and they're giving her suggestions a try. I'm pretty sure they're going to have the same response I had.
