Is anyone else sick of hearing about Nick Jonas and his type 1 diabetes?!

Question: Is anyone else sick of hearing about Nick Jonas and his type 1 diabetes.?
I am a type 1 diabetic and it just S#*&s me when I hear. "Oh, he's so brave dealing with his illness" or "It's so sad that he has type 1 diabetes". He lives a life of luxury. Has no problem getting medical suplies such as insulin, blood glucos sticks and strips, a pump ETC.

Please, I really wanna know what other type 1 diabetics think of this.Health Question & Answer

I hear ya! He's no more brave than anyone else dealing with a chronic illness. And you are right, since he's got buckets of money, he definitely gets better care than the average person. Health Question & Answer

i was a type one diabetic for 26 years until i had a kidney and pancreas transplant due to kidney failure.i have also lost my left leg because of diabetes. i am glad that younger people out there with the disease is bring more attention tho it. the more people know about diabetes the more they will help fund research to find a cure. when i was younger and got it no ne knew about diabetes and kids at school would not play with me because they thought they would catch it from me. i am glad people know more about it. i hope nick can get out there and raise a lot of money to find a cure because i do not want other kids to go through what i did. best of luck to you and your diabetes. take it from someone that id not do what the doctors told me to do follow their guidelines so you do not end up on dialysis or in a wheel chair like me.Health Question & Answer

ok i do not have type 1 diabetes but my uncle does...
and anyone out there no matter how rich or poor they are...they are going to suffer with which ever disease it is, it culd b diabetes, aids, cancer. but whatever it is, its always hard to deal with a disease espeaicllyy in Nick's case when he is always on tour, playing he's music and stuff like that...
So he is always so busy and then he still finds time for all the charity work he does and the diabetes things and stuff like that...
And he is also so young only 16 and he got it when he was 13 and all...
When he just started becoming a singer..
Pls if anyone out there agrees with me please do tell me...
Good Luck with ur diabetes, i can imagine how hard it is...
But please don't say something like that about Nick.
i mean shame poor Nick..

I'm with ya.

I've had it since i was 9, and he really irritates me.

I've been bungy jumping, heli-skiing, climbed a mountain.

There are plenty of people with diabetes, he's not so special.

It's a pain in the *** for all of us, no matter what we do. Health Question & Answer

i dont relle hear about it soo it doesnt relle bother me. but anyone with diabetes is affect rich or poorHealth Question & Answer

I'm not annoyed that he has it, can easily afford his supplies, or that the media gives it attention. I'm annoyed that it/he hasn't done much to help raise awareness among kids. (Far too many people assume we do this to ourselves by eating chocolate cake for breakfast with coca cola chasers. Oh, and diabetics are fat. Cinnamon cures. And my personal favorite, they all wear weird socks.)

If anything, all it seems to have done is create panic and drama. I see questions in here all the time "My Poor nick has diabetes, isn't that terrible.?" Typed by someone named Ilovenickjonas or Nickjonasforever or one of those names. There's also a lot of panic driven questions, "I am really thirsty today do I have diabetes.?" Not that it's not great to pay attention to your body, but that's not what's happening in these cases.

I used to roll my eyes at those second-batch of questions, but now I see it as an opportunity for us to teach that person a little bit about it, and clarify urban legends. I don't hear Nick speaking up on the subject at all, or educating his fans on what he's learned, which is a shame. He's the one these kids would benefit most from hearing from. Wish he'd use his powers for good, and maybe these young kids wouldn't be so scared or misinformed.

Your first poster, I liked her post. I don't know who downthumbed her, but it's nice to read something from a fan that's a little more encompassing. Life beyond Nick. She didn't segregate his illness like it's any worse, or more important than everyone else.Health Question & Answer
