hey i am a 13 year old girl and i keep geting threadworms every 3-4 months apart they go away and come back. Mum is getting sick of buying the tablets as they are quite expenisive. Is there something wrong with me.?Health Question & Answer

I was reading about this and it says "The infection is most commonly transmitted when a person comes into contact--usually by walking barefoot--with soil containing S. stercoralis larvae in their filariform stage."
it also says that "Threadworms are unique among human parasites in having both free-living and parasitic forms. In the free-living life cycle, some rhabdoid larvae develop into adult worms that live in contaminated soil and produce eggs that hatch into new rhabdoid larvae. The adult worms may live as long as five years."
So my guess is that you have contaminated soil. I would not walk bearfoot anymore and maybe see a dr. Since the infection can travel to almost any part of the body. I hope this helped.Health Question & Answer

You must have your home in most unhygienic place.Get out of the area where the air and sunlight is available.worms lived in cold damp places and you should wear shoes and be hygienic when you eat..such as wash your hands before meal and wash your feet with soap before going to bed.Health Question & Answer
