See an endocrinologist...Since you've already had the RAI treatment, this means they have basically killed the thyroid gland. This puts you into hypothyroidism. This will require you to take synthetic thyroid hormone for the rest of your life. This should have been explained to you prior to your recieving the iodine therapy.

They told you to wait the 3 months for the thyroid gland to empty itself of all thyroid hormone and for the same hormone in your blood to reach a certain level before starting you on a synthetic hormone. I know it sounds confusing...that's why you need to see a specialist. An endocrinologist.Health Question & Answer
