How effective are condoms at protecting against Gonorrhea and Chlamydia?!
Question: How effective are condoms at protecting against Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.?
I had sex with someone about a 3 weeks ago and we used a condom but the wrapper of the condoms looked like it had been around for awhile...I have had severe itching and lower back pain... I don't know if the lower back pain is just like because I sprained something or from coughing because I have been sick... I took a pill for a yeast infection and that didn't work so I went to the doctor and she checked me even though I am on my period and said things looked normal down there.. She gave me a antibiotic for vaginosis just in case thats what it is... I am really scared and don't know what to think..Health Question & Answer

Gonorrhea and Chlamydia very rarely cause noticeable symptoms in women for years. Condoms are also around 98% effective at preventing infection of those STD's. So I very much doubt that's what it is. Of course, it never hurts to get tested. The lower back pain makes me thing possible a UTI.? PID.? I'd go back to the doctor and ask for a wider spectrum of tests if the vaginosis meds don't fix it.Health Question & Answer
well she should have tested you for STD's too unless you have to wait so long before it shows up but I think with most of them you don't. I would go back in just in case and make sure they test you. Just like with pregnancy there's still a chance of getting STD's while using condoms they just decrease the chances.Health Question & Answer
