What is the difference between a sinus infection and a common cold?!
Question: What is the difference between a sinus infection and a common cold.?
I never have a "cold." It's always a sinus infection, where I have to get a steroid shot and antibiotics. I know that you can "catch" a cold from someone, but you can't "catch" a sinus infection. Is there really a difference between the two.? Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Yes there is a big difference.
A cold is a virus, therefore not needing antibiotics just time to run it's course. It is contagious but can be best controlled by frequent proper hand washing. This will control the spread of the virus from contact.
A sinus infection is bacterial, and must be eliminated with antibiotics specific to the bacteria. If left untreated serious damage can occur.
If you have frequent sinus infections there is probably a cause. Do you smoke.?Health Question & Answer
