Question: How do you cope with diabetes.?
anybody in the Yahoo! nation having trouble coping with diabetes as I am.? I am still in denial and do not know what to do. Any answers or suggestions would be helpful.Health Question & Answer

Its very hard to cope with, but try to look at it as a challenge. Do all you can to become an expert in managing your blood sugars. Take a positive can-do attitude. You really don't have any other choice because the ramifications of not doing it are very bad. Here is a forum that I found extremely informative.

The people there are very knowledgable and although they subscribe to a very low carb diet, you may not want to do that, but you can still learn a lot from them and their determination to control their disease is very contageous.

Well i have had diabetes since i was 9 and honestly i really don't remember not having to take care of it.
and i don't mind it. Without diabetes i would be a very different person than i am now. I don't resent it its just a part of who i am and its going to be with me forever so i might as well love it. Health Question & Answer

1. Your only weapon is knowledge , stay well informed about how to manage your diet , exercise , what foods you can eat , what foods to avoid etc etc.
2. Start doing YOGA regularly , its easy to do and helps a lot in managing this serious situation. The long term effect of YOGA is amazing !
3. Take your medications timely and monitor your blood sugar levels .
4. Take 4-5 small frequent meals a day rather than 2-3 heavy meals

I was in denial for 4 yrs. I woudn't test, I skipped Dr. Appointments. Everything.
But I knew inside that I had to learn to cope, and I did it by reading alot and learning to cook lots of good foods, these things really helped me.Health Question & Answer
