i play water polo

lately, towards the end of practice, i've been having trouble breathing and i've been having pain when i breath in my sternum area...
is athletic induced asthma.?

This sounds a bit like exercise induced asthma. The only person that woudl be able to tell you for sure would be your doctor. Don't be afraid to use them for knowledge about the conditions that you have. Health Question & Answer
