Cirroisis of the liver?what is the sighns?!

Question: Cirroisis of the liver.?what is the sighns.?
Answers:
when you drink you initially get fatty deposits in the liver which resolve. if the insult from alcohol to the liver continues it may becomes inflammed. at this stage the liver can still cope and regenerates itself. however if the insult continues the liver will become scarred and liver tissue is replaced by fibrous scar tissue. this is known as cirrhosis. approximately 70% of the livers functioning ability is lost when a liver becomes cirrhotic

based on that you can see that its a diagnosis based upon the clnicians opion. i.e. based on lab results, tests and or scans. usually a biopsy may also be taken to diagnose it.

so there may not be any signs and you may still have cirrhosis of the liver.

when the cirhosis does become quite bad, there are signs which are visible. noteably jaundice, a yellow tinge to the skin. the whites of the eyes also become yellow. there may also be stomach swelling. the stomach swelling is thought to arise due a decreased production of a protein called albumin, which keeps fluid in the vessels and not elsewhere through its presence because it is present so abundantly. the yellow tinge is present because the liver usually breaks down a substance called bilirubin which itself is produced from the breakdown of red blood cells. it is processed by the liver and so reduction in this processing causes a backlog

there are many other signs and symptoms but these are the two that patients themselves will notice and are the commoner ones.

if you are worried about cirhosis of the liver you should consult your GP because they will be able to take a proper history and perform an examination from which a diagnosis can be made or ruled out. Health Question & Answer

There are many symptoms and any or all of them may be present by the time the disease has progressed. Jaundice is only one symptom. You need to know that in the early stages, there may be no symptoms at all and it's discovered through checking for another illness.

Health Question & Answer

Remember that alcohol causes heartburns and stomach bloating (i.e. pot-bellies).

Cirroisis in the liver takes time to develop, the liver regenerates quickly, so if you reduce the amount and frequency of your drinking, your liver might cope.Health Question & Answer
