Lately I've been having a lot asthma attacks, usually 2 - 3 a week, what can I do to control it better?!

Question: Lately I've been having a lot asthma attacks, usually 2 - 3 a week, what can I do to control it better.?
I've always had my asthma under control, loads of different medications (I have a nebulizer and a portable nebulizer for when I'm at work) and bi-weekly doctors visits with both my doctor and the asthma specialist.

The last three weeks I've had between two and three asthma attacks a week, which is rare, I usually only have two or three a month. I've been to the hospital twice, both times needing an adrenaline shot - among other things - before I "cleared" enough to go home.

I can't figure out what is causing the attacks. I haven't changed anything - except the inhaler, the one I used to use was taken off the market, but right now I'm getting the same inhaler just a different brand - we don't have any pets, no rugs, and allergy pillows and sheets.

I also vacuume twice a week, and have one of the hepa filter allergen reducer vacuums (heavy and expensive, but makes the house very clean). So I don't know. Any suggestions.?

Thanks! Health Question & Answer

Hi I have had asthma for as long as I can remember. Been to the hospital several times this year also. First let me tell you the new medicine (HFA) is one of the causes of why we are getting more attacks, they took out the most important medication for what they call the green effect. Ask your doctor about acculate I take it once in the morning one more at night and I also take the advair. I have a portable nubulizer . Was on predisone for a while and that really helps but cant be on that too long. Know what your going through. Some of the medications are still around that haven't changed to the HFA make sure you tell your doctor that he gives you those. By the way they put a small amount of enthinol in some medications. Said it cant hurt us because its in small amount. Right! Hope I helped some. Sherry Health Question & Answer

When you vaccum, make sure your not doing it. If you are, then dust is blowing around whcih isn't helpful to you. Watch out for asthma triggers. The weather is constantly and dramatically changing. This is bad! So, since we have so much cold air start using a scarf because breathing in cold air causes asthma. Always keeps your inhaler with you. If you know what causes your asthma, stay away from it. Maybe its just the season. Take allergy medications.

also, take advice from your doctor!Health Question & Answer

i cant really help you to much but ive been researching it myself as to why asthma is getting so bad now a days.. i had asthma as a child and it went away until just this last year! my research now as all turned up as basically the blame of global warming.. its changing the environment which in turn is messing with peoples allergies which in turn is causing and making asthma sufferers worse... Do you try taking an actual allergy med.? mainly for allergies, not even asthma.?Health Question & Answer
