Does costal cartilage show up on x rays? I injured my left ribs......?!


Question: Does costal cartilage show up on x rays.? I injured my left ribs.......?
I injured my left ribs a few years, back but as I was pregnant they couldn't x ray them....since then I have been knocked in the same place several different times.....my ribs look different on both sides.....recent x rays show nothing.....can someone tell me if you fracture the cartilage joining your ribs(costal cartilige) does this show up on xrays.?.?.?.?.? or do I need more tests done.?.?.? and what.?.?.? I cant sleep on that side, and havent been able to for a long while, and the pain now goes from my ribs through to my back.......have just had blood tests done to see if it is an ulcer in my stomach and they are sending me to a stomach specialist.....it honestly feels like the cartilage has been bent upward inside my rib cage........any help from anyone........please...... Answers:
The only way to visualize costal cartilage would be if it were calcified (which normally only occurs in older folks) so I doubt you could see it in your x-rays. Keep telling them what you think, and maybe they will order a CT scan or an MRI!Health Question & Answer
