Can a blood transfusion do this?!

Question: Can a blood transfusion do this.?
My nanaw had a blood transfusion yesterday. She seemed okay afterwards but now she's in the hospital with pneumonia and has fluid in her lungs. Could this be caused by the blood transfusion.?
Here's my other question. I want to go see her but I nearly died from pneumonia last year. Is it okay if I go see her or would it be dangerous for me.? Please help me out cause I'm very worried and I wanna go see her.

Their is side effects from blood transfusions. Use the link to view them. My son had a couple and didn't have any problems. I did see a lung problem listed. Ask her doctor if it caused her problem. The other thing is ask if they think you could get it again. If you want to see her anyway get the nurse to give you a mask and gown. also, be sure to wash good and use the hand sanitizer that they probably have there. Health Question & Answer

Having a blood transfusion can't cause pneumonia. However, if your grandma has a weak heart (and a lot of older people do) then the extra fluid from the blood transfusion could be more than her heart can handle. In that case, a drug like Lasix is usually given to get rid of the extra water, which should reduce the amount of fluid in her lungs.

The kind of pneumonia your grandma has may not even be contagious, for example "aspiration pneumonia" is caused by inhaling food or stomach contents, and you can't catch this from someone else. Some kinds of pneumonia are only a little bit contagious and are really only dangerous to people who are in poor health.

Go to see your grandma and ask the nurse if there is a risk of catching the pneumonia from your grandma. If so, just ask the nurse for a mask. Really, though, sick patients in hospitals are more likely to get infections from their visitors or from other patients than they are to give their infections to you.Health Question & Answer

Not sure about the first question, but for the second, you can go see her, talk to the nurse, and if they think there is a chance of you catching it, they can give you a gown and mask to wear, not comfy, I know, but you'll get to see her.Health Question & Answer
