Salt is known for killing organism. Like they used to cure meat in the meat houses with lots of salt before we had refrigeration. However, a more asap relief would be to take 5aspirans and a cup or 1/2 cup of warm water, stir and dissovle , then gargle a few times. When you go to bed be sure to do it again.
