Can you pass out from an ear infection?!

Question: Can you pass out from an ear infection.?
I've had an ear infection for quite a while now, and I'm stubborn, haven't been using the ear drops my doctor gave me. So today, All of a sudden my right ear [The one that is infected] went completly def and I got REALLY light headed like I was going to pass out.

I rushed to the living room and called my step dad to come home, I THOUGHT that he would take me to the ER to get me checked out, but him and my mom won't. They don't think anything is wrong with me.

My right ear tried to go def as well and my vision got all trippy.

This wasn't a panic attack, I have Anxiety and have conquered my Panic Attacks, so I can tell the difference.

Can you pass out from having an ear infection.? And if not, what made me feel like I was going to.? Health Question & Answer

I think it could be possible. I had a really bad ear infection a few years ago, was too stubborn to go to the doctor...So guess what.? it spread to my other ear. So finally after i couldn't take the pain anymore, i went to the emergency room and they found pus pockets in both my ears. I was on meds for weeks, and they told me if the pus didn't go away, they were going to have to drain them which is highly painful. But luckily they cleared up on their own. Please take your drops/ meds & see the doctor if it doesn't get any better.Health Question & Answer

Yes , you can pass out from an ear infection, because the infection can affect your balance. prolonged untreated ear infections can lead to the brain. Believe me, I've seen it and the patient was operated on for a brain abscess. Hers was caused by a dental infection. You should see a ear, nose and throat doctor asap. He may suggest a hearing test and that would be appropriate. Your doctor may take ear cultures if it doesn't clear up with medications.Health Question & Answer
