Question: Super dry skin- what works best.?
I always get really dry skin during the colder/dryer months, especially on my legs and arms. It's really itchy and nothing seems to get rid of it. I've tried the oil in/after shower and various moisturizers, but nothing I've done has seemed to do much.
Are there any on-the-shelf fixes that you've found really useful.? I'm not looking for medication- its not that bad- just a good lotion or something before i scratch my skin off.

I also experience dry/itchy skin in the fall and winter seasons. What I have found to be really helpful is Cetaphil lotion and gentle skin cleanser, this product is made by Galderma and sold at most chain stores (ie.Target, walmart, Sam's club, costco, BJ's, Walgreen's, Rite aid) in the US. I have been using it for about 10 years and it has made a significant difference in my skin condition. I usually use the cleanser in the shower and apply the lotion right after I towel off for optimal absorption but you can use it anytime. You should also try not to take too many baths, because the longer you expose your skin to the water the more irritated and dry it can become (I learned this from my dermatologist). I have keritosis.. Where I get really dry patches of skin on my upper arms, legs and on my cheeks.. .So, I use a moisturizing facial wash and apply moisturizer (facial) on my face 2x a day.. I've just recently started using a LOREAL brand facial wash and it's extremely affordable. I got it FREE with rebate from Walgreens AND I used coupons.. It keeps my skin very moist... I also use a facial moisturizer at the moment I like ORIGINS CONSTANT COMFORTER.. It's non irritating and last a long time.. .I use a moisturizing body wash like OLAY or DOVE and appy lotion like EUCERIN....

Off the shelf I like Udder Cream. The jar looks like cowprint. It's 'udderly' affordable :) They use it on cows. It isn't greasy or smelly. It works great! Wal-mart & CVS carries it.
My sister sells Melaleuca and I buy their lotions! They are even better.
Same price. Better for you. Their products are natural, and ecosense.
