Should I be going to see an endocrinologist?!

Question: Should I be going to see an endocrinologist.?
After having some routine blood work done, my primary care physician said the results reflected a low thyroid. Subsequently he put me on a very low does thyroid medication. Just wondering if this is reason enough to go see an endocrinologist.? What would an endocrinologist do differently, if so.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
A Family Practice or General Practice doctor cannot have sufficient knowledge of special needs as in low thyroid problems like an Endocrinologist can. They are the doctors who specialize in the thyroid diseases and diabetes and other specialty subjects. GP or FP are good for general good health subjects, but cannot have time to specialize in everything their patients may need to deal with.

So you keep your family doctor, PCP, and have the Endo for the specialty subjects. You really do need both of them.Health Question & Answer
