Question: If someone with active cold sore kisses a baby will that baby get herpes or cold sores in the future.?
All i know is shortly after the baby caught a ringworm on his cheek after being kissed from that person. The child is 8 months old.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I don't know much about ringworm, but I know quite a bit about herpes.

Oral herpes is spread EXACTLY the way that you describe. If a person with a cold sore kisses someone who doesn't yet have oral herpes, they will very likely get it - and may get cold sores in the future. Most adults (50% to 80%) catch oral herpes in childhood from kissing their relatives.

Its a good idea for people with coldsores to avoid kissing very very young infants. Their immune systems aren't yet fully developed, and herpes can cause big problems in small babies. In fact, people with open sores on their mouth should really avoid kissing anyone at all - its just gross, as well as unhygenic.

Health Question & Answer

Yes, it is possible that the baby could catch the cold sore/herpes virus that way. These links discuss cold sores.
