Answers:
It is the progressive present high grade high risk HPV type that can progress to cancer.

Low risk HPV types that affect the vulva are not linked to cancers...but you can have a co-infection with high risk HPV types.

Most abnormal cell changes are due to high risk HPV types.

Most often it takes 7 to 10 years for the virus to progress. Cervical cancer due to glandular cell changes can progress much faster than squamous cell changes.

Here in the US...the progression of HPV to cancer is much less...probably about 1% due to our aggressive screening and treatments of abnormal cell changes.

85% of Low-grade squamous cell changes regress in three years...

About 11,000 women each year are diagnosed with cervical cancer...some have not had screening in a few years...some have...it is important to keep recommended follow-ups as directed by your doctor and treat abnormal cell when needed. Most of the time cervical cancer can be prevented.
