I am a type one diabetic with a problem, do I need help?!

Question: I am a type one diabetic with a problem, do I need help.?
I have been a diabetic for six years. I started at 80 lbs. I am now at 160. At times, I would let my blood sugar go high to lose weight. Obviously, the weight loss was short lived. I feel like an elephant. I look one too. I am TERRIFIED to take insulin, but to live I have to. Every time I take some, I imagine myself ballooning out further. I try to skimp, but then I start feeling sick. I know that is bad, I am not a complete idiot. I just don't know what to do. It has become a weird habit. I eat a lot too. By becoming diabetic and having to watch everything has made me think of nothing but food. I have a hard time dieting, then I just try to let the sugar leave my body by not taking an injection. I need to know what to do.

My sister is a diabetic type one and my uncle too. YOu do need to eat and take insilin and see you endroconlist. It is so hard, I have pre-diabetes my whole life and my grandma had type 2 and died at 60 years because she went off her diet. everyone should eat healthy even if they do not have diabetes. You were probably so thin because you were so sick back then. Haley Berry has type one diabetes and she is on the insilin pump. I really think that the endrocronglist should break down the proper amount of sugar to insilin and carbs to insilin butI am not a doctor but studying to be a nutritionist in recovery of the illnesses of the body. Best of luck, take care of you because there is only one you. Treat yourself to some good organic foods- my family and friends with diabetes shop at whole foods, fresh and easy, vitamin stores, and trader joes for food that does not have so many presevatives or fillers in the foods- empty carbs etc, Health Question & Answer

You should talk to your doctor and I'd suggest a councelor or support group, too. You should not be afraid of your insulin or manipulating it to loose weight (you could seriously damage your health that way - such as early kidney from the higher sugar levels).Health Question & Answer

if you eat too much and dont exercise then you will put on weight, diabetic or not. see a nutritionist to put you on a diet. and get some exercise.Health Question & Answer

Yes, you do need help. Are you a teenager.? Go talk to your Mom. Or talk to your doctor. Go to someone who will help you. You have to get over your fear of the insulin. And you have to stop worrying so much about losing weight. It's good not to be fat, but it's better to live a long life, and letting your blood sugar go high for the purpose of weight loss will shorten your life dramatically.

You have to put this in perspective. This is not like the other dangers people warn you about. Every time you let your sugars go high for long enough for you to lose weight, you are shortening your life. This isn't a maybe, this is 100% for sure. And being young it may seem to you that's an eternity away, but it isn't. When you get to be 30 or 40 or 50, you're going to realize that you want to live longer. So don't ruin it now over something as trivial as a little fat.

Once you get your diabetes under control, then you can start worrying about the weight. You can exercise more, which will help you lose weight, and will allow you to eat more. And maybe the diets you've been offered before need to be tweaked a little bit so you're more comfortable with them. Just don't give up again.Health Question & Answer

I have been a Type I diabetic for over a decade now and I have found that dieting makes absolutely no difference in being to control glucose levels in a Type I diabetic.
Now, a lot of you out there that think that all diabetics have to watch EVERYTHING they eat very carefully, let me tell you this: Shut Up and get your facts straight!!!!! Type one diabetica do not generally have to follow a strict diet as long as they maintain a normal weitght, but the rapid weight gain I'm reading about here makes me think that you've been constantly eating and exercising little. My advice would be to just eat normal meals and Exercise more often to try and lose the weight, however, the way you're going about losing weight by purposely causing Hypoglycemia will kill your kidneys within 5-10 years, almost guarenteed. Keep a steady A1C and blood glucose range and exercise and you'll probably lose most of the unnessary weight.

Well, I am a type 1 Diabetic (baout 80 pounds now), I used to be 63, (2 years ago), which is normal to gain 10 pounds a year, (when growing/going through puberty.) So, since obviously you have a problem, you should stick to a diet similar then mine.
First of all, do you have an Insulin pump.? If so, is it broken.?
Second, your diet, if your eating chips or whatever, swap it for an apple, it actully tastes better (or some type of fruit)
eat 100 calorie pack cookies.
Try to eat (if your a teen) about I think 240 carbs a day (NOT SURE, ASK YOUR DOCTOR)
don't take my word completely, but, you need to excercise
btw insulin doesn't make you gain weight (I think.) .

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!! PLEASE!!!!Health Question & Answer
