I have these white spots/patches on EVERY single fingernail (can be seen in the link below). On some it is real bad not like covering my whole nail but yea.. Does anyone know what this is.? i have been searching the web for over a month now and all i have come up with is it could be calcium deficiency, but i drink at least 2 glasses of milk a day, so that can't be the reason. Those aren't anything bad! Your finger nails are like a record of what is going on in your body the white spots mean you don't have enough zinc in your body. (zinc is a mineral that comes from certain foods) High-protein foods contain high amounts of zinc. Beef, pork, and lamb contain more zinc than fish. The dark meat of a chicken has more zinc than the light meat.
Other good sources of zinc are peanuts, peanut butter, and legumes.
Fruits and vegetables are not good sources, because zinc in plant proteins is not as available for use by the body as the zinc from animal proteins. Therefore, low-protein diets and vegetarian diets tend to be low in zinc.
I hope this is all your information you need my mother is a doctor so I know.
