Answers:
I have to respectfully disagree with the first answer. You have altered the position of the toe, and now the body is literally treating it like a foreign body.
The whole toenail needs to be removed so the underlying infection can drain out.
Antibiotics will stop the symptoms for awhile, but the problem will more than likely return.

If you crush a penicillin pill and put the powder on your infected toe, that should do it. also wash it well, and put peroxide on it but just let it dry and don't put your shoe on. The shoe only causes for your foot to get moist and that is the favorite habitat of bacteria so keep it dry by applying the peroxide and letting it vent. Health Question & Answer

Yes he will stick a needle in it. It hurts too. I had the same thing happen to my big toe. It swelled up like a big old ham hock.Health Question & Answer
