Cold sore medication?!

Question: Cold sore medication.?
I have tried many cold sore medication over the years. I have tried Abreva, campho phenique, Aveeno, Orajel, Chapstick brand, and I am sure there are more out there. None of them at least for me and a few others I know work on helping with getting rid of them quickly. The Chapstick is good for pain relief, Orajel is not sold at least to my knowledge. Does anyone have any luck with any brand or even a home remedy. I heard bleach works but I have tried and maybe I did not put it on right.? Its just every time I get a cold I get a cold sore a couple of days before and then after. Thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

What you put on the outside doesn't always work, sometimes you need stuff on the inside. Take L-Lysine. You can get it at Walmart, a pharmacy or any nutrition store. I double up on it for the first 2 days and then take it as prescribed. It works very good and you can continue to take it everyday to try to keep the cold sores away. It is just an ameno acid your body makes naturally anyway so it won't hurt you. I have a prescription medication cream called Zovirax and it says to use it for cold sores only. I get them all the time so if you get a lot of cold sores you might ask your Dr about it. It takes the sore away in about 2 days because it inhibits its growth and keeps it from spreading. It is expensive if you don't have insurance (I do) but well worth it to me. I used to get cold sores that would spread so bad I had to drink from a straw, now I don't. I put it on at the first sign of a cold sore and sometimes they never break out at all. I love it.Health Question & Answer
