Rubella isn't a danger for a child, but for a woman who is pregnant it can mean her baby will be deaf. At the age of 12 if a girl gets the vaccine she will be unable to get the disease when shes older and possibly pregnant. Rubella can be so mild a disease that you can have it and not know it, or not have it and be unaware of it. This way you take no chances.Health Question & Answer

This is not correct.
Standard MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is given as only two doses. Those doses must be given at age > 12 months old, and should be space apart by at least 1 month.

By habit and convenience, pediatricians just give it at the following times, to coincide with other standard visits, and to coincide with the timing for other shots:

dose 1: age 12- 15 months
dose 2: age 4 - 6 years.

A dose at age 12 is only given if the second dose at age 4 were missed for some reason.

There is no difference in the vaccination schedule whether you are a girl or a boy.Health Question & Answer

The rubella vaccination is given to girls because it they get the virus during pregnancy (particularly during the first three months) their child can suffer from congenital rubella syndrome which can result in blindness, hearing loss, mental retardation and cerebral palsy of the newborn.Health Question & Answer
