Question: How long does an allergic reaction to something you eat go away.?
well see on like Wednesday night i fell asleep and i was perfectly Fine, but then the next morning i woke up and i had like these ugly weird pimples on my face and my back like itchy red ones! and my first reaction was the new face wash i brought and it did that but than two days later i realized it was because of some fish i ate at a restaurant, and now its Wednesday of the next week and the reaction kinda cleared up but it is still there. how long do you think it will take to clear up and do you think its contagious.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
What you are describing are called hives....

I am currently typing this to you while I too have hives and a swollen top lip from something I had at lunch time...zyrtec always helps me feel better.

If there is a continuous pattern with this happening to you, start to write down a food log on things you eat and or drink each day.

I experianced a wave of hives about four years ago then they cleared up...now all of a sudden I'm getting them, it stinks.

Good luck.

Health Question & Answer

That reaction happens because your body is releasing Histamine to defend itself, it's not contagious at all. If it was an allergic reaction it will happen every time you eat fish (are you really sure it was the cause.?) but it could be just food poisoning. Go to an allergy doctor to get tested, it's the fastest way to know if it was an allergy or just food poisoning and to determine the best treatment for you.Health Question & Answer
