I have been frequantly urinating because I am very thirsty all of the time and I've also dropped a couple pounds from it somehow. Some friends say I'm just going through changes, one says I have cancer, one says I have type 2 diabetes and another one says I have a disease which needs a kidney removed, are any of these true.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Without any other information, the most likely serious condition you have is type 2 diabetes. It is caused by the decreased sensitivity of your cells to insulin and can result from many things including genetics and obesity. It commonly occurs in older individuals, but in recent years, it has been occurring in younger and younger people, including teenagers and children.

Having said that, however, the first thing you need to do is see your primary care physician. Thirst and weight loss can be signs of a multitude of conditions, and the only way you will be able to distinguish them is to have some testing done. Tests commonly performed for diabetes include fasting glucose levels and HBA1C, but your doctor can decide if that's necessary.Health Question & Answer
