Answers:
Your genital herpes makes no difference. If the sores on the corner of your mouth are oral herpes, then you should probably wait until they heal before kissing your son. But once they are healed, please kiss him extra to make up for it.

Oral herpes is incredibly common. 50% to 80% of adults have it, and it is most often caught in childhood from kissing relatives. It can be dangerous for very young children, but eventually, pretty much everyone catches it.

Herpes can be spread when no symptoms are present, although it is less likely than when there are sores.

I would:
a) Figure out what this is in the corner of your mouth. If its chapped lips, then no worries. If it's oral herpes, then be careful.
b) Never kiss him when you are having an oral herpes outbreak, or other sores on your mouth.
c) Kiss hiim extra when you don't have sores. Every kid needs to be kissed and hugged and snuggled by his Mom. Whatever slight risk of herpes remains when there are no symptoms is nothing compared to the risk of raising a kid that never gets kissed.
