Question: I am a 55yr old man. Total Bilirubin 1.83 mg/dl,SGPT(ALT) 236 U/L, SGOT(AST) 295 U/L.Is there cause 4 concern.?
Answers:
Yes there is cause for concern. Your liver function is taking a hit. You need to have a hepatitis panel done to determine if it's one of the hep viruses.

To take care of yourself, do as suggested above. No fatty foods, no alcohol, no tylenol (serious about that one), no vicodin (all things that are really hard on your liver). Drink a lot of fluids, either take fiber supplements to help move your bowels or eat good fiber foods daily (this helps move toxins the liver is dealing with). If you are jaundiced, sit in the sun for 10 minutes at least 2x a day. That will help break down the bilirubin in your skin. But you have to expose as much of the jaundiced skin as possible for it to work.

I'm assuming that you had a doctor run these tests, cause you can't order them yourself. What have they told you.? What are they doing.? Follow the doctor's orders.
