When I have a blood test, what tests do I need them to take to determine if I have a thyroid condition?!
Question: When I have a blood test, what tests do I need them to take to determine if I have a thyroid condition.?
I got a newsletter from AARP, and it says that a having a thyroid condition could cause a high cholesterol, and it lists some of the symptoms of a thyroid condition, (weight gain, fatigue, dryness of skin, etc.) Whats tests do I need to ask them to do so I can see if I have a thyroid condition, I would like to have this, so I can ask my doctor what exactly needs to be done. also, what do they need to test for arthritis.?

The test is called Alisa and it tests for t3 and t4 components within the blood. when ppl tend to have hyperthyroidism their adams apple area swells, they sweat profusely and their skin becomes very very smooth.
As for arthritis it's also a simple blood test to see if u carry certain genes to certain forms of arthritis. there are a whole book of them. sorry ur not feeling well. wish i could help more, but cholesterol can be brought down by taking an anti-cholesterol gel cap (OTC), take two capsules of omega 3 fish oil (OTC), take one of garlic oil (OTC), some magnesium and potassium and drink a lot of water, sleep right if u can and move move move but the first parts should lower your cholesterol even if u don't drink water and are sedentary. I came up with this program myself and it worked I brought everything way down to normal or below normal including my bp which was 169/145 at some points now it's 122/80. :) Health Question & Answer

T3, T4, and TSH yes. If you do have a throid condition try and find the best Speech Pathologist you can find. If you live in northern Illinois then Central Dupage Hospital has a great one there, best in the country. Health Question & Answer
