If you don't have a bowel movement for two weeks, what do you do?!

Question: If you don't have a bowel movement for two weeks, what do you do.?
Again. Meds clogged the person up. She has used three suppositories in three days and only a small amount came out. She had some bloody stools so does she take a stool softener now.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
at the first sign of complication this peron should of immediately contatced her dr, if not a pharmacist... it could of been number of things, it could of been the wrong dose , or wrong med etc. at the first suppository attempt and no results were a definitely tell-tell sign of a p bigger problem. however. as far as the bloody stools it could be from straining or hemorrhoids ..... so please tell her to go now and get it checked.also the link can shed some light on bloody stools........... good luckHealth Question & Answer

Yes, if meds are making her constipated, she should take stool softeners daily (A doctor I worked for used to tell his patients to take 4 colace a day until BM then reduce to one or two a day). Try an enema. You can also try Magnesium Citrate, which can be bought over the counter. If she doesn't go soon, call her doctor.Health Question & Answer

I would definitly contact her physician. That is too long not to have a bowel movement. You did not say if this was an elderly or younger person so...if they are young enough to handle being able be to go to the restrroom on their own, try the liquid Magnesium Citrate Suspension. Available OTC at your local pharmacy, grocer, walmart, may take a little while for it to workHealth Question & Answer

Contact her physician immediately. They should put her on something for that to counteract her other meds. But she needs to be sure there is no other reason this is happening. And if it is just her meds, then something needs to be done. She must be very uncomfortable, if not in downright pain. It is not good for her system.Health Question & Answer

check her abdomen for firmness and tenderness, if she is eating, it has to come out..so i would take her in to the doc.. ten days is a little much.Health Question & Answer

I would take the stool softener and also start dissolving fiber in my drinks. Eat lots of fiber-filled foods as well. If these don't work then she should try calling her doctor.Health Question & Answer
