Answers:
they probably would stop having safe sex. because everyone knows AIDS is no reversing the disease. once you get it that's it. but know that people think their is a cure, they gonna think of AIDS as a little std that is curable. as for me safe sex till i get married Health Question & Answer

First, it needs a lot more testing to see if it really is a cure. Next, NO its not going to turn out like I am Legend. Bone marrow transplants are done every single day for a LOT of other issues, including leukemia, which is the reason this person had one to begin with. He had leukemia. Bone marrow transplants have been used for close to 50 years to treat leukemia. They can also be used to treat myeoma and lymphoma, 2 other types of cancer that involve the bone marrow. There are also several other diseases like sickle cell anemia and a lot of auto immune diseases that can be treated with bone marrow transplants because the disease is in the marrow.

During a bone marrow transplant, the patients existing marrow (which is what makes the blood and immune system) is killed, and replaced with donor marrow. Bone marrow transplants have always been able to rid the body of viruses, but it is sporatic at best. For example, I had the transplant last year for leukemia. Before the transplant I was positive for cmv and hsv1 (two viruses that nearly everyone in the US has) and all my childhood vaccinations. Today, a year and a half after transplant, I am negative for both of those viruses, all of my childhood immunizations (I will have to get them again) BUT still have the chicken pox virus in my blood.

The BREAK THROUGH (not cure) that they found is that when the donor has a certain genetic mutation, it can help remove the HIV virus.

And NO, people will not no longer care about AIDS. Bone marrow transplants are long, tedious, incredably dangerous and very expensive. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks, in daily outpatient care for 6 more weeks, and a year and a half later I am still recovereing and will be on life long meds. There is actually a high percentage of people that die during the transplant, and most aids patients are no where near healthy enough to go through a bone marrow transplant.Health Question & Answer

I should think not, HIV/AIDS is only part of the reason, you can still get tons of other STIs and you don't want an unplanned pergnancy so people will still use contraception, even if you go on the pill that will only protect you against pregancy, you'll still have the risk of catching a STI. also it is only a supposed cure, so untill it's definate it's not work taking any risks.Health Question & Answer

If you get hiv you can treat it like magic but im almost positive if you get straight up aids your not gona make it you can have it for four years and not know it it's scary. When i was in high school a guy had an insane story and it scarred me and he's gona slowly die your body slowly stops fighting off even little colds and you end up dieing there's two differnt versions and one doesn't have a cureHealth Question & Answer

This is not a cure yet! Let me repeat not yet! This has happened only one time people! Do not stop protecting yourself or stop your treatment or whatever. This gives HOPE but is not a positive cure yet.Medical professional for 22 yrs.I am glad you are a virgin. Stay that way until your marriage ,have him tested and stay monogamous. It is the only way to stay save in that category.Plus hopefully you have the right person to start with. Most important of all.Health Question & Answer

that has not been tested yet. they have tried marrow transplants with very limited results before. this is one case, one man. the worst mistake anyone can make is thinking they have a cure.

you only get one body. i have always spouted off taking responsibility to care for it. i tell men to use condoms often. when dating they are a man's best way of controlling his own future and body. women do rarely get pregnant to trap men, but it happens. std's are rampant today, and any man with half a mind would use what methods he had in front of him to protect his future and his body.Health Question & Answer

There is not a cure, just a small glimmer of hope. So people still need to have safe sex. It will be a long way off for a cure. This was one "special" situation that has created hope. Still a long way to go.Health Question & Answer

I hope they do finda cure, worldwide. It'll be the best in this world. People will probably start to get a little more crazy, but thinking it's probably expensive, they'll prob still continue practicing safe sex..Health Question & Answer

No! There are dozens of other STD's you can catch besides aids, and just because the "cure" worked once, doesn't mean it is a universal cure.Health Question & Answer

Good grieff, no, there are still some horrendous STD's that you can pick up which can ruin your life. Unless you are trying to concieve, you should always use a condom... Health Question & Answer
