Congrats on quitting. It's not easy...spoken from experience. You cannot be diagnosed over the internet. Making an appointment with a pulmonologist is a wise idea. Have them check you out. It may involve somewhat invasive procedures like a bronchoscopy, which is looking at the bronchi with a skinny camera that is very flexible. Biopsy's of your sputum or "coughing up stuff" can be retrieved at this time and examined by a pathologist to determine what's up with it- if anything. Don't forget, even though you quit, there is a good possibility that damage is severe to your lungs. Often times though, we see patients who have a very small percentage of damaged lung tissue. So, it's up to you, but may give you some piece of mind.
Good luck and stay quit.
