Answers:
Protozoa are a single-celled parasite, amoeba being one type of protozoa. It has nothing to do with bacteria. The one pathogenic intestinal amoeba, Entamoeba histolytica, is usually from ingesting or drinking contaminated water. Another, Naegleria fowleri, is a deadly amoeba which you get from jumping into contaminated lake or pool water. The water rushes up your nose and the amoeba get into your brain. Usually fatal. Another pathogenic amoeba is Acanthoemba. This amoeba is usually transmitted via contaminated contact lens fluid. It can cause severe eye damage. Most non-pathogenic amoeba you'd get by drinking contaminated water.Health Question & Answer

There is no such thing as a "protozoa amoeba bacteria." Amoebas are protozoa. Bacteria are not protozoa - they are something altogether different.

I'll go out on a limb and assume you were talking about amoebas, though. Many kinds of amoebas can live in the soil and water and mostly they never cause us problems. Entamoeba hystolitica can cause GI infections if you drink contaminated water. There was some panic in the US a couple years ago when people contracted amoebic infections from swimming in lakes with Naegleria fowleri, a different kind of amoeba. Those are just a couple examples. There are many species of amoeba with different habitats and habits.Health Question & Answer
