Question: Hi,is anyone familiar with the cochelar implant for children.?
with hearing loss .? today my 3 yrs old had a hearing test and they said she has profound hearing loss. and they suggested the cochelar implant. does anyone know anything about it. please share. thank you soo much.Health Question & Answer

a cochlear implant is a electronic device that is implanted in the back of the head..it is use to stimulate the auditory nerves..it is turned on by a remote to stimulate the cochlea to recieve sounds.
Cochlear implants are very expensive and can cost about 30,000 for both ears. I know a couple people that have cochlear implants and sometimes for profound deaf it might not work...i know a girl at school that has a cochlear implant and it barely helps...but getting them at a young age can also be a helpful too along with learning sign language..if you have any more questions feel free to askHealth Question & Answer
