Question about cancer spreading?!

Question: Question about cancer spreading.?
my mom found out that she has breast cancer, but she doesn't talk about it at all and i don't like making her talk about it. she did tell me that she will have surgery to try to take it out of her breasts and then if she wants to she will start chemo or radiation therapy, since she will only have surgery on her breasts does that mean it hasn't spread.?Health Question & Answer

my wife just had a mastectomy two weeks ago and she is doing fine. Usually they will look at her lymph nodes to see if it had spread there. Her tumor sounds like it was a smaller one because they are going ahead with the surgery first instead of trying to shrink it and then do the surgery (as in my wife's case).

After the surgery they will exam the tissues. The chemotherapy did not remove all the cancer, but most of it so she will continue with another chemotherapy drug and then follow it up with radiation.

It is very difficult or almost impossible to determine if it has spread, usually it seems with breast cancer it spreads first to the lymph nodes, then from there to other parts of the body. So that is why they would remove some of them, but it sounds like testing did not detect cancer there for your mom. If that is the case, it probably was contained in the breast and the surgeon and oncologist believe that she will have "clear margins" so that may be all she needs.

If they feel that it had entered her blood system and gone elsewhere in her body they would chase it with chemotherapy to kill those microscopic cells before they could attach themselves to vital organs.

The surgery itself was not bad at all. She stayed overnight and was released the next day. If no lymph nodes are removed I don't think you will be doing anything with a "drain". She was doing one percocet every four hours for two days. Then every six hours the third day. The fourth day she switched to Advil one every four hours. This lasted for two days and then it was one every 6 hours. After the first week she was on one advil every day.

She said right after the surgery she had not felt so good in the last two weeks before the operation because she was so fearful of it. She is going to wait a year or so and think about reconstruction. At least your mom won't have to lose her hair.

Good luck with the battle, sometimes it is best to talk about it because it is hard keeping it all bottled up inside.

It may have spread, but she's not in a hopeless situation. Removing the tumors, or a complete masectomy is usually successful. Spreading is only a death sentence when it has spread to the brain or liver. So basically, she's doing pretty well for a cancer patient. I hope the surgery goes well for her.Health Question & Answer

Yes or they just aren't sure of anywhere but her breast . I watched a medical show and it was just throat cance but then they found stomach cancer too.Health Question & Answer

I have been doing a lot of research on cancer for the past year. I have a good friend with brain cancer, and until last year I would have thought that there is only so many months left for him to live. He is 85, and doing much better than last year.

He refused chemo because he saw it kill his wife years ago, and wanted to not be in pain form chemo for the last years of his life. He was bedridden by the summer of 2007, when he started to drink alkaline water. He is doing much better now, is walking normally, got rid of his wheelchair, and has not used his cane in about 9 months.

I can't say enough about alkaline water. It has helped me work in 115F temperatures in Arizona.

You might want to google 9.5 PH water and see what results you get.

My mom died from cancer in 1975, when chemo was in the dark ages. My dad died 8 years later. Both smoked, they did not know that much about smoking in those days.

You might also want to look at the link below.

It explains Dr. Warburg's theory on Cancer and how it can reproduce. According to his research that caused him to win the Nobel Prize, cancer can only reproduce in a atmosphere of 8.0 PH or higher, and if your PH is over 8.5, the cancer cells will die in a hour.

According to what I have been reading, if you want to host cancer, you would make your body more acidic, but to avoid hosting cancer, then you want to become more alkaline. This can be done with food, or easier with water. Drinking 4.0 PH soft drinks will make your more acidic, while 9.5 water will make you more alkaline.

No matter what happens to your parents, you can make yourself healthier by improving your diet and taking better care of your body.Health Question & Answer
