Got Scratched by rust, Will I get tetanus?!

Question: Got Scratched by rust, Will I get tetanus.?
I got a scratch from a really rusty garbage can during school today. The cut was small but it did draw blood a little. I cleaned it after.

Sorry for my stupid question x) Just a little bit too worried.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Probably not. For one, if you are still in school, you are probably up-to-date on your immunizations. Tetanus is one of the standard injections you get. Secondly, to get tetanus is caused by an anaerobic bacteria... this means that it cannot survive with air. In order for tetanus to survive in your body and cause illness, the wound needs to be deep...like a puncture wound (i.e. stepping on a rusty nail that goes deep into your skin). If you're that worried though, call your doc and see if you're up to date on your tetanus shot. If not, just go in and get one, then you won't have to worry about it for another 10 years!Health Question & Answer

etiologic agent is clostridium tetani, it is correct that you might get infected by the cut but you have done the correct intervention by washing it thoroughly. To relieve your anxiety, go to your doctor and have some anti-tetanus shot.

Health Question & Answer

it is possible if you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years. Moreover, common sense should be used --- keep it clean and disinfected.Health Question & Answer

its not likely......especially if you are young and relatively healthy.....just go get ur tetanus booster....Health Question & Answer
