Is shingles contagious?!

Question: Is shingles contagious.?
And how is it contracted.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
No. It is a mutation of the chicken pox virus. It happens when you have a weak immune system and the pox virus expresses. If you get shingles, go to the health food store and buy lots of "Blue Green Algae" that comes in pill form. Eat lots of it and your symptoms will go away fairly quickly in a few days, not weeks as is typical of this problem.

Shingles can be painful and is a wake up call that you are NOT healthy and need to focus on your overall general health. Keep your immune system in good order and you should never get this. Stay away from ALL vaccines because they weaken your immune system, avoid ALL chlorinated products because they destroy intestinal flora, avoid ALL Antibiotics because they destroy the intestinal flora as well. Since that flora is 3/4 of your immune system, it's important to protect it. Just eating yogurt will not fix this problem either.

There are many things we all need to do to become healthy, the SAD diet (standard American diet) is NOT one of them. Listening to those so called "food experts" is NOT another way to be healthy either. They are nothing more than sales people dressed up to look credible to sell high profit products being promoted by the food and agricultural industries in America today. It's no wonder over 53% of ALL Americans are now chronically ill (according the 2005 CDC report). In 1905, the CDC reported less than 5% of ALL Americans were chronically ill. Does that sound like progress to you.?

good luck to you Health Question & Answer

Shingles is only contagious to someone who has never had chicken pox or the chicken pox vaccine. If someone has never had chicken pox or has never been vaccinated for it, they could get chicken pox from someone who has a current outbreak of shingles.

When someone has had the chicken pox the virus settles in a nerve root in your spine. Later in life it can reactivate and cause shingles. Stress can be a factor of the virus reactivating, as well as low/poor immune function. There is a vaccine for shingles, however it is generally suggested for the elderly to be vaccinated as they are more prone to an outbreak. Health Question & Answer

Yes and no.

Shingles is caused by the same virus as chickenpox.

The virus is never completely eliminated from the body since it tends to bind to the nervous systems. So anyone who has had chickenpox can develop shingles later in life. Shingles tends to happen in people with compromised immune systems due to some other primary illness, or stress. However the cause of a shingles outbreak isn't always found.
